The Council of Fluff and Stuff

Role: Narrative Design Game Writing, Art, Implementation

This is a short game I designed about a child struggling with the idea of her parents getting divorced. In order to cope with this, she hosts a council meeting with her stuffed animals and cat, each symbolizing a stage of grief. Will she be able to come to terms with her new life? Or has it already taken too much of a toll on her?

Award Winning and Nominated

The Council of Fluff and Stuff was nominated for 2 awards at RPI GameFest 2023:
The Excellence in Narrative and Impact Awards!

It also won Best in Narrative at Quinnipiac University's 2023 Game Showcase.

What’s the story?

This is a small bitsy project I took on in the fall of 2022.  It’s work that’s very important to me because I think the media often focuses too much on the nuclear family or goes so far in the other direction of being completely dysfunctional.

Not every dysfunction is the end, and though there is certainly a balance and a sacrifice, sometimes dysfunction can be necessary to move forward. I also find that a lot of adults forget that children process these things in such differing and creative ways. They don't know how to empathize with them beyond the adult lens. If you end up playing, just remember that it's all about perspective.
